D(N)A

i was just randomly googleing stuff (sometimes i find amazing pics that way) when i saw this. at first glance before enlarging it i thought i was that actor who played john in one of those beatlesmovie (probably backbeat). but -tadaaa- it´s julian in full 80s attire sporting a DA that even the king would be jealous of. love his shoes especially.

another stern

this one i just want to show you, because the dress is too die for. soooo bollywood! like i want to marrry in this one :D my first evening dress was like a very reduced version of this one, but in the same blunt colour. which is a colour i absolutely adore... it´s when you can´t decide if it´s hot pink of already purple... here it looks quite pink but i´m sure in another light it´ll look all different.

marisa berenson by bert stern

bert stern is more known for the famous last sitting pictures of marilyn, but he of course had a career beside that one shoot. here are some fashion photographs he did with marisa berenson. in one i´m actually not sure if it´s really her, but it´s bert stern and the style is similar so i just decided to include it.
i like the clarity of these, the colours and the total focus on model and what she´s wearing.

stamp out the beatles

when i first saw this jumper on george i fell in love with it straight away... it seemed to be quite the craze because pattie and even eppy had on, too. i think it´s still available or at least reproducable because even dhani wears one in perfect purple. i can´t find the pic now but i don´t think it´s george´s, it sure doesn´t look fourty-something years old.
wonder if there´s a 'stamp out detroit'- jumper aswell :D

fabby road!

heehee... so here´s julian and his mother cynthia in julian´s italien home (i think)... you can easily see the fabby road sign on the mantle piece. now one could think it refers to the rutles or some other pythonesque parody but that would be shabby road of course. for you this is probably old news but i was delighted to find it in julian hilarous video of 'i don´t wanna know'. if one can make fun of this whole story it is julian and i think he does it great! it´s indeed pythonesque and actually not really innovative, but i still like it.

i´ve no idea what the reaction was when it came out so it´s possible that i stumbled into a huge hate-fest without realising it. i still like it! *hides*

we grew up together from the cradle to the grave

i can´t dig john with hair like that at all, thankfully i only know two pics of him in that style. still creeps me out because my brother looks so much like that. really strange... with long hair they almost bear no similarity at all but like that!! *aaargh*

the other half of the sky

contact sheet of john and yoko being affectionate.

mrs harrison

i think she never turned up here, but i love her, she´s wonderful and that´s a very sweet pic of her and george in a way

the knack - i got it

no i haven´t got the knack (at least not with women *wink wink nudge nudge*), but i gave it (the dvd... not my way with fellas :D) to a very generous friend of mine as a selfish present and she thankfully believes in the holy laws of give and take, of sharing.
means in short it got to watch it. loved it, loved it, loved it!
it´s a super cute story about a shy and awkward teacher colin who wants to learn the knack from his womanizer house mate tolen. on the go a brown-hating painter moves in and starts painting everything white, country-girl nancy arrives in town, an old metall bed (bigger than even rory mcbride´s) is purchased and also receives some white paint treatment, someone looses his knack and somebody else gets it. boy-being and girl-being unite at the end. throughout the film surrealistic elements do much of the story-telling without interfering with it. all in all it´s a very watchable package, just my kind of film... it has in no time made into the top-five of my fav film rankings... and will stay there for long i guess.
that´s why i have a couple of pics around that film... the cover of the film score record, the german film poster, an english film poster, rita tushingham, premiere pics. sounds a lot but isn´t really as it turns out. :) anyway have fun! and make sure to watch it in case you haven´t yet.

rita in her sweet newspaper boy cap

rita at the premiere next to her husband (on her right side i think)

no idea who those folks are ;)

the record (gave that one to my friend aswell)

nice german poster

last but not least rita listening to george on his sitar

the pics and the lennons and the starkeys i took from the beatle-wives blog due to my laziness to find them myself in the endless debts of too many folders. very sorry.

to london we go!

hey there,
so after weeks of consistent non-blogging i´m here just to announce another week of no posts, but i have a happy, swinging and very fab reason. i´m going to london!
i´ve been there before but that was before i developed any beatles- or 60s-awareness so i guess i will see the city in a whole new light!
i hope i come back with a big bunch a stories to be told, pictures to be shown and maybe vintage clothes to share (... errh we have to see how that goes with my small budget :D)
i´m terribly excited and sooo giddy that i´m afraid i might burst after the next coffee. that´y why i´m sticking to tea today :D
have a nive week!
and on an absolutely unrelated sidenote i have a picture where john lennon is wearing a piece of clothing belonging to pattie boyd.bangor, having to make a statement about brian´s death (john was probably just cold from the shock)

and here on pattie, at the all you need is love session

on the way to greece (island-shopping :D)

in bangor (most porbably before she gave it to john)

seems that she lived in that poncho in 67... still sweet, there must have been a lot of clothes-trading in the beatles-clan, when not only the beatles wore eachothers stuff... :D
clohts-sharing is a wonderful thing!
