hello sunshine

so miss lizzy and i will be away for the next 14 days... we´re on holiday in italy. we wish you a pleasant time and hope the weather will be fine where ever you are. i don´t think we´ll get anything done except tanning or swimming (perhaps a little reading and lots of eating and sleeping) but if a big wave of creativity should indeed hit us and we feel inspired to, say... do a 60s photoshot you´ll see the result! :D
see ya
love&peace

p.s: maybe little harrison girl will keep this place alive!

just like the flowers i´m growing wild

when i found this pic it felt awfully familiar but i couldn´t quite say why. well had my grey cells working for a bit and noticed that the flower print is very similar to a print i got on a scarf. it´s really amazing, it´s almost identical. the yellow flowers are a bit different and the purple comes off different too, but that may be because of the photo qualities that differ. my scarf was actually a present i got from miss lizzy and it´s from one of these reggae/ left-winged/ hippie/one world-shops (it smelled of incense sticks for weeks!) whereas edie´s dress is of course an early 60s design, not at all related to anything hippie/flowery/hash induced. and edie became an amphetamine factory girl later on which had nothing to do with festivals and head bands or even incense (that´s what i´m connecting with the print :D) later on. funny how two so different things can look so similar. what am i concluding?? flowers always go!

Foale&Tuffin

the Foale&Tuffin boutique in 1965. in the shopwindow are the boyd sister, pattie and jenny, logically wearing F&T designs. the boutique was opened in 1961 in carnaby street, way before it became the place to be in the later 60s. F&T was a duo of two obviously talented ladies who designed wonderfully mod-ish clothes.

sound and vision

well just visual goodies, no sound...

very recent pictures of the charismatic bob harris (youtube commenters call him ugly, i call him charismatic), the lovely cynthia lennon and paulie´s brother mike mccartney . bob harris is the interviewer of my second fav interview with john lennon, which is about the only interview where i almost like the person who asks question equally much as the one who awnsers them. i also love bob for apparently putting john so much at ease that he is able to do such a great, laid-back and interesting interview. cause this is john and if he doesn´t want to be interviewed he can be a bit of a pain...

partners in crime

early lennon/mccartney, probably composing some number one hit right there under the lense of mike mccartney.

1965

so i´ve been looking for this pic forever! i have now idea where and at what occasion is was taken, all i knew was that i wanted to find it. it could be at kenwood for all i know. it could be everywhere else too. it´s sweet!

what??....

okay this pic slightly creeps me out because i don´t get it. what the hell with that photo in the backround?? or is it two pics oddly put together?? and what is paul doing in the one in the back??? i hope the explanation is something simple... like it´s a cut-out from a scan , cause otherwise i´d question my intelligence ;D

miami beach paul

speaks for itself pretty much. i am in love with his funny teeth.

NYC streetstyle

hee this is one of the amazing pictures that have a "snapped john lennon in the street yesterday"-feel. so clear and fresh, totally lacking the vintage photo-look i usually love about pictures. and oh boy, how good he´s looking here... i´m having a hard time trying NOT to jump into the computerscreen :D

king of vests

the last clothes-related post today.
all my beatlefanfriends hate paul´s beard and in the beginning i wasn´t really fond of it too. now i love it... he looks far better in that beard than john does around that time! john just looks like hair on legs but paul makes a very good looking mountain man with that beard.
heee go mountain man paulie!!!

more shoes

so yeah i´m pretty interested in clothes and fashion lately... i think because it´s (theoretically) beginning to become summer and i put on all colourful clothes i can find in my wardrobe. means just about ALL because i hardly wear black or grey (only when i´m really moody...)
my fav fashion-period in the beatles is 1967 for obvious reasons. that´s when anything goes. that´s why yellow and red shiny shoes are going too... on george and on paul. when one of the beatles was out shopping it could happen that he bought something four times when he thought the others would like it too. or he bought it in four different colours. adorable, isn´t it?

a room in a colourful way

i´m super-jealous of that picture because i would love to wear those two paperdresses (the one she wearing and the other one on the wall) by ossie clark and celia birtwell... and just about everything else in that room. mostly i´m amazed by the shoes. i was shoe-shopping the other day and sooo pissed off that there are almost only ugly shoes avaiable. heels are most of the time to high for me (can´t walk longer than half an hour in them) and flats are either ballerinas or ugly. and i already got lots of ballerinas.
and then there´s the jewellery of course... in real life i don´t go for plastic necklaces and such much (hee that´s so german to say it like that in english) but in that pic i love it. the colour combination of the whole place is awesome too. and jane.
this is an alternate pic where the colours come off a bit different... the pic´s names include "john duff" because i read somewhere that they were taken by a photographer of that name. couldn´t find anything about him so maybe i dreamed it ;)
love and peace!

i was hungry and it was your world

two lovely pics of edie sedgwick when she was still in cambridge studying sculpture. they might be from her 21st birthday party, but i can´t be sure. i love how healthy and... brown haired she´s looking.

keef and kim

since i´ve been spending almost every minute of the little free time i got at the mo on watching the rock´n´roll circus again and again, especially enjoying pete townshed and keith moon dancing with eachother and generally having a good laugh i thought i post some moonie-family pics again. i don´t know why but i like first wives for some reason (like i watched i walk the line with my daddy yesterday night and the first thing today was to google if viviane in real life was as horrible as in the film... nevermind the blooming heart-breaking love story! XD) ... so kim with keith, many and her little brother(kim´s that is) in 72 (i guess)

hi i´m john and i too play a guitaaar. george´s.

so here´s john with george´s rickenbacher. he had one himself, mind you. still there are quite some astonishing stories around that john could even play paul´s left-handed guitar and vice versa. so instrument-sharing à la help/another girl wouldn´t really be a problem in real life... this is amazing... these guys shared EVERYTHING! ...even wives...

the redhead

so i ... borrowed these two pics from meet the beatles for real. i had the first one for a long time, but now i can´t find it anymore... i never knew there was a second snap shot of paul with that mop of red hair in the corner. i find it amusing that in both snaps you can only see the back of her head and you still know it can only be jane. and i´m quite sure it is jane. sod the quite, it is jane. even my hair wasn´t as orange as that when i dyed it... okay maybe it was :D

btw i love that jacket too... always have... and the way he combines it :D i have a post about the beatles style up my sleeve, i hope i can get through to it soon. heee...

sit back and let the evening go

i hope you could... i, unfortunatly, have a test in math tomorrow so i couldn´t just 'let it go'.
here are some pictures from the photosession for the sgt pepper album cover. miss lizzy you can spy the pattie here!... now i seem to have seen john´s trousers somewhere before and i guess it was on brian jones. are they the same?
now i´ve got to find out where they are from... hmm...

rock´n´roll circus

soo, i just pop by here to give you a little flash of colour, mick jagger´s boyish smile and a very stoned marianne faithful. sideeffects are the london in crowd jumping around in funny hats and keith richards singing :D enjoy!

hang around abbey road

this is a lovely pictures inside abbey road studios. here we see probably brian epstein (the fella with the hat), cynthia lennon, pattie boyd in the backround, phyllis and mike nesmith (yep a monkee) and ringo. Phyllis were on their first trip to london at the time and stayed at kenwood, after being personally invited by john and cyn. the source where i got this from says it´s astrid in the back and confirms the man with the ht is john. you can chose yourself.

wizards

it is no secret that yoko ono is a witch. she even admitted it! but did you know that the beatles are wizards themselves?? why else would they pose with their nimbus 2000? i guess those two pics document the proud moment they were accepted to the quidditch team... ´cept george... he was given a basket. he seems happy with it though.

duffy.

hey,
i guess there are a lot of things you could say for or against duffy. i won´t say much, only that i like her quite a lot, her voice and her music appealed to me from the start. but it´s more than that, what i found most intriging about her is her laid-back attitude towards the press and the fact that despite the hipe around her she isn´t making herself someone bigger that she isn´t. she just seems more natural than other girls around.
i will focus on her style in this post, even if i find that her music + her voice should be primarly focused on. and the fact that she writes her songs herself. that her style is retro and lovely too is merely a nice side effect. or should be. bla.
so she is the perfect retro girl with her long back-combed blonde hair and cute little 60s outfits. opposed to the 60s hippie look that a lot of people wear now (including me i have to admit)there is a rare simplicity about them, once again it seems as duffy is saying: 'don´t make a fuss'.
what could make her a style icon is the fact that she´s not trying to be one.
she also seems to like the colour red quite a bit. as for her make-up and hair, they´re screaming 60s at me. in some pics you could cut her out and let her sing on ready steady go! and she ´d probably like it a lot!
love and peace!
